From little acorns do mighty oaks grow..

Starting out as a group of strangers, some of whom who had never played camogie before, the East Belfast camogie team is one of camaraderie and community. From the start, our numbers grew every training session and we continue to gain members. 

Being a mixed ability team, we focused on learning the foundation of the game, with our confidence growing as the weeks continued. Being able to play our matches and friendlies were a huge motivation for the whole team and although the score board wasn’t always in our favour, we enjoyed the experience and had fun along the way. 

Our season was made more enjoyable by our opponents providing us with some encouraging words as well as enjoyable treats! The team improved with every match and by the end of the championship, it was obvious that we will be real contenders next season. 

From experienced players to those who don’t know their hurls from their helmet, we would encourage anyone to become involved in the sport.
